The Butcher of Damascus

President Assad’s Chief Henchman Colonel Anwar Raslan was found guilty of Crimes Against Humanity by a High Court in Germany and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. Raslan was the the most senior regime official to be punished for the torture, murder and sexual abuse of thousands of innocent Syrian men and women. The judges described the crimes as systematic and part of decades-long practice by President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Abducted Syrians faced only one choice “ to leave Syria or die” resulting in mass migration to various nations.

Syria is now considered the world’s largest refugee provider. Close to seven million Syrians have been forced to flee their homes since 2011 and another seven million remain refugees inside their country awaiting their opportunities to leave.. Their situation has been exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic which exposed them to child labor, violence against women, inforced early marriage and other forms of exploitation.

European nations host over 1 million Syrian refugees mostly in Germany and Sweden and an ever increasing numbers in France and the UK.

The migration to Europe is not likely to slow down as long as traffickers earn fortunes by their trade and most of all as long as Syria is still governed by Bashar Al Assad and his regime. On numerous conversations with Syrias I have become aware of Syrians love of their country. “We would never leave Syria if we are not forced by Al Assad”. Assad’s father Hafez al-Assad massacerd tens of thousands of Syrians in the northern cities of Hama and Aleppo for no more serious matters than disagreeing with his politics. The Assad family considers the entire country as their own personal fiefdom. They would rather sucrifice the life of every single Syrian rather than give up their power. “As lomg as they are in control” I was recently told by a Syrian doctor in France “ migration to Europe is our only survival”

It is obvious therefore that the only solution to this problemm lies in the removal of Assad and handing him to the High Court of Justice in Germany, ( currently persueing hundred of other such criminals from Syria) As a precedent the world manged to remove many such gangsters in recent times and there is no reason therefore why it cannot do the same in Syria. The Americans helped capture the Iraqui dictator Saddam Hussein who like Assad was responsible for the death of more than a million innocent citizens. Britain and NATO were also responsible for the arrest and eventual elemination of an other Arab dictator Muammar Gaddafi of Libya, and many more.

The Conclusion is Simple : Either Assad Goes Or his People Go mostly drowning in the Mediterranean or freezing to death en route to Europe… !!
